Huis te Voorst
Huis te Voorst, Depiction of the Huis te Voorst, outside Zutphen, belonging to his Excellency the Earl of Albemarle (ca. 1700). The view contains various touches of fantasy: the moat could never have accommodated a gondola and neither could spectators have stood on top of the colonnades, though people could gain access to the splendid gardens through the doors beneath. The lavishly decorated King's apartments occupied the first floor of the building, with Keppel's quarters on the ground floor. The servants' wing is to the right and the stables to the left. Published in Amsterdam, 1718 Illustrated by Jacob Roman.
