The Park at Enghien
The Park at Enghien (ca. 1685). The upper view shows Mount Parnassus on the west side of the park. Deer are being hunted at the foot of the Mount and some boys are climbing over the low walls of the bastion to join in. In the lower print which shows the formal gardens to the east of the main gateway, the aristocratic visitors meet and greet each other, while the gardeners rake the gravel in the flowerbeds and water the bushes. Image taken from: A Collection of 86 plans and views of The Hague. Published in Amsterdam, 1718. Illustrated by Romeyn de Hooghe.
