Kaikeyi demands Rama's exile
Kaikeyi demands Rama's exile, Dasaratha finds Kaikeyi lying dishevelled on her bed and her jewels discarded about her. She rises up to claim the promises and demands that her son Bharata be given the throne and Rama be exiled for fourteen years. Dasaratha is distraught and kneels at Kaikeyi's feet beseeching her to change her mind. The minister Sumantra in the middle has been sent at dawn by Vasistha to summon Dasaratha to the consecration.
