Gardens of Stourhead, Stourton, Wiltshire, c1945-c1980. The picturesque park of Stourhead was created by Henry Hoare II and laid out between 1741 and 1780. The valley was dammed to create a sheet of water. The Palladian Bridge (1762) and the Pantheon (1754) are just two of the garden structures which provided a focus for dramatic views.
