Band-e Kaisar, Shushtar, Iran. Also known as Valerian's Bridge, this bridge and dam was reputedly constructed by captive Roman soldiers in the 3rd century AD after the Sasanian Shah Shapur I's victory over the Roman Emperor. As an overflow dam for the River Karun it forms part of the Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System, which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
