The Priory, Wherwell, Hampshire, c1880s. Group portrait in the grounds. Members of the Iremonger family, owners of The Priory from the mid 18th century until 1914, are probably among those trying to look relaxed beside the River Test. Another photographer, with camera and tripod, is standing at the back of the group. The Priory was originally built in the early 18th century near the site of a Benedictine abbey that had been founded in the late 10th century. Albumen print.
