RAF Staplehurst, Kent, May 1944. Opened in 1943 the airfield was a prototype for advanced landing grounds used across France after D-Day. It was used by RAF, RCAF and US units including USAAF 363 Fighter Group flying P-51 Mustang fighters. It was closed down in September 1944.
