'The Order of the Lion of Baden (Golden Lion of Daringen)'. The Order of the Zahringer Lion was established in 1812 by Karl, Grand Duke of Baden (1786-1818), in memory of his ancestors, the Dukes of ZŠhringen. The badge of the order is a green enameled cross with a gold-edged medallion in the centre featuring the tribal symbol of the noble family framed by the order's motto, F†R EHRE UND WAHRHEIT (FOR HONOUR AND TRUTH). On the reverse the ZŠhringer lion on a red background. The ribbon is green with orange-yellow stripes along the edges.
