Doorway to the Great Hall, Old Wardour Castle, near Tisbury, Wiltshire, c2000s(?). Arched doorway and grand stairway leading to the hall. The doorway was redesigned in the 1570s as part of Sir Matthew Arundell's refurbishment of the medieval house. It echoes a Roman triumphal arch, emphasising the importance of the approach to the Great Hall.
