Presentation of the Emden - sign to Hindenburg, c1930s. President von Hindenburg received on Monday afternoon ( 27th February) the representative of the Australian government , former Prime Minister Bruce , who gave him the name plate of the cruiser Emden , destroyed in the first months of the war after a heroic struggle of the Australian cruiser Sydney . Sailors carry the Emden sign in the Presidential Palace .
