Russian author Alexander Kuprin with friends in Paris, 1930s. Kuprin (1870-1938) was a short story writer described by Vladimir Nabokov as the Russian Kipling. He is probably best remembered for The Duel (1905). Kuprin was not a supporter of the Bolsheviks and left Russia for Paris in 1919, but returned in 1937. Found in the collection of the State Museum of AS Pushkin, Moscow.
