St. Magnus Church, Isle of Egilsay, Orkney, 20th century. A 12th century Irish style round tower, rare in Scotland, and unique in Orkney. Saint Magnus was martyred here in 1117 by an axe blow to the head. While the church is dedicated to him, the foundation may be far older.
