The Cathedral of Saint Basil the Blessed, Red Square, Moscow, Russia, 1900s. Also known as the Intercession Cathedral, St Basil's Cathedral was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the capture of Kazan and was built between 1555 and 1561. It is best known for its spectacular colourful onion domes. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
