The Royal Gold Cup, (late 19th century). Medieval solid gold cup. The lid is decorated in basse taille enamel with scenes of the martyrdom of St Agnes. The bowl is decorated with scenes from the history of St Agnes after her death. The base of the stem is set with pearls. The cup was made for the French royal family at the end of the 14th century, and has been in the British Museum collection since 1892.
