Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fyodorovna of Russia (1864-1918). A German princess of the House of Hesse, Elizabeth Fyodorovna (1864-1918) was an older sister of Tsarina Alexandra. Noted for her work among the poor, she became a nun after her husband, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia (1857-1905) was assassinated by a terrorist bomb. She was arrested by the Bolsheviks after the Russian Revolution and was murdered at Alapayevsk in July 1918. She was canonised by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1992.
