'St Michael, Cornhill, The Tower', mid-late 19th century. One of a set of views of baroque London churches. The church of St Michael, Cornhill in the City of London was rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the medieval building was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666. The tower was rebuilt in the Gothic style between 1718 and 1722, the work being commenced by Wren and completed by Nicholas Hawksmoor.
