Nikolai Rubinstein, Russian pianist and composer, c1880-c1881. Rubinstein (1835-1881) was the younger brother of Anton Rubinstein, also a pianist and composer. Nikolai founded the Moscow Conservatory in 1866, hiring Peter Tchaikovsky, with whom he was a close friend, to teach there.
