St Clare, Ryde, Isle of Wight, 1830. St Clare Castle (or House) was a castellated mansion in Appley near Ryde. It was the seat of Colonel Francis Vernon-Harcourt: 'the Marine Villa of the Rt.Hon.Lord Vernon'. It was demolished in 1960 after a fire.
