Portrait of Princess Dagmar of Denmark, c1865-c1866. The future Tsar Alexander III (1845-1894) married Dagmar of Denmark (1847-1928), the younger sister of Alexandra, Queen Consort of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom, in 1866. Alexander became Tsar in 1881 after the assassination of his father, Alexander II, after which Dagmar was known as Tsarina Maria Feodorovna. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
