Georgy Malenkov, Soviet politician, 1935. Georgy Maximilianovich Georgy Malenkov (1902-1988) was a close associate of Stalin and briefly became leader of the Soviet Union after Stalin's death until he was replaced by Nikita Khrushchev. In 1957 he was removed from the Politburo after he was involved in an attempt to depose Khrushchev, and was expelled from the Communist Party and exiled within the Soviet Union (Kazakhstan) in 1961. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
