'Unveiling of the Chattri by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, 1st February 1921', (1939). The Chattri war memorial in Brighton, Sussex, is unveiled by Edward, Prince of Wales (1894-1972). During the First World War, wounded Indian soldiers were treated at makeshift military hospitals in the town - some died, and those who were Hindus and Sikhs were cremated, with funeral rites being observed, on the site of the Chattri. From A History of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, by Henry D. Roberts. [Country Life Limited, London, 1939]
