'A studio living-room in one of the Isokon Lawn Road Flats, Hampstead, London', Britain, 1936. Partition in Venesta polished birch plywood, floor covering of cellulin. Divan bed by the Vono Company, steel chair by Pel Ltd, Isokon unit bookcases of Venesta oak ply, designed by Wells Coates. Rug, bedspread and curtain in silver neotolin by Heal & Son Ltd. The Isokon building opened in 1934 as an experiment in minimalist urban living. Most of the flats had very small kitchens as there was a large communal kitchen for the preparation of meals.
