The WSPU shop at No 39 West St, Reading, Berkshire, July 1910.
The WSPU shop at No 39 West St, Reading, Berkshire, July 1910. The window contains a poster with details of the march to Hyde Park on July 23rd. Miss Margeson, of No 7 Lawn Road, was the organiser of the Reading Branch. The local Palmer Hall was hired for 'At Homes' and the Town Hall was needed for the larger meetings, at which senior figures like Christabel Pankhurst spoke. Newbury had a 'bicycling corps' of women who would ride to outlying villages and canvass support for women's suffrage. © London Museum/Heritage Images
