'Thomas Younghusband and his Family Meet Queen Victoria and her Family at Crystal Palace', c1854. Thomas Younghusband, left, moved a medieval crypt from beneath his house to the grounds of Crystal Palace in Sydenham, to prevent it being destroyed by the construction of a railway. He was asked to conduct the queen on her visit to the Crystal Palace, where to his surprise his son Joseph, right, and family were also in attendance. Joseph's young son and daughter are presenting flowers to the royal children. The queen holds the arm of Prince Albert who is in uniform. © London Museum/Heritage Images
