A votive offering of the male genitalia.
A votive offering of the male genitalia. This offering has 'Good Luck' scratched on it. Men must have sought help from the gods for impotence, infertility, and sexually transmitted diseases. A number of anatomical votive offerings have been found in Roman London. They have been found throughout the Roman Empire but seem to have been particularly popular in Gaul and Britain. © London Museum/Heritage Images
