Robert Thomas Wilson, English soldier and military writer, 1817. Wilson (1777-1849) was dismissed from the army in 1821 for his action against the mob at the funeral of Queen Caroline, but was reinstated in 1830 and reached the rank of General in 1840. He was elected MP for Southwark in 1818 and was appointed Governor of Gibraltar in 1841.
