Recruitment poster for the Legion of French Volunteers, 1941-1944. Established by the Vichy regime, the Legion des Volontaires Francais Contre le Bolchevisme (LVF) was a unit of French volunteers in the service of Nazi Germany. It was founded on 8 July 1941 and its 10,000 members served on the Eastern Front, both in front-line action and in operations against partisans and civilians in occupied territory. The LVF was disbanded in 1944 and incorporated into the 33rd SS Charlemagne Division.
