Scuttled ship in Marseilles harbour, France, c1945-1949. As the Germans retreated in 1944 they destroyed the port, blocking the harbour with 192 wrecked ships and leaving only 12 of the 300 cranes usable. Marshall Plan aid was used to reconstruct the port.
