Lord John Manners, 7th Duke of Rutland, 1878. Manners was also a Conservative MP for Newark. He opposed the reapeal of the Corn Laws, was a defender of the Established Church and a supporter of the agricultural interest. He was the author of England's Trust, and other Poems, (1841), A Plea for National Holy-days, (1843), Notes of an Irish Tour, (1849), A Cruise in Scotch Waters and English Ballads, and other Poems, (1850).
