Chasuble made of striped silk with applique cross. Front view. Fabric: Mamluk Egypt, late 13th-early 14th CE. Lampas with Arabic inscription in gold (Glory to Our Lord, the Sultan, long may be his reign) on formerly geranium-red ground with black and green ornamental bands, Chinese export fabric for the Islamic Orient, 14th CE (?). Chasuble cross: slate-blue silk on linen with white rosettes and gold platelets; figures in gold and needle painting with pearls in regular appliques. Embroidery: Lower Saxony (Brunswick ?), 15th CE.
