The Piccolomini Library, south west wall: “Aeneas Sylvius, elected pope with the name of Pius II, enters St. Peter’s, September 3, 1458”, the seventh one of the ten stories about Aeneas Sylvius Piccolomini, future Pope Pius II, (1503 - 1508), fresco by Bernardino di Betto, known as Pinturicchio. Detail of the mosaic in the half dome of the apse in St. Peter’s, and the edge of the baldachin with the emblem of the Piccolomini and the papal keys of St. Peter.
