Portraits of Philip archduke of Austria, Pope Julius III, Louis de Birague, Prince don Carlos, Ferdinand of Austria, Marechal de Montluc, in the Galerie des Illustres, featuring 327 portraits of important figures from history, commissioned 1620-38 by Paul Ardier, in the Chateau de Beauregard, Renaissance chateau begun late 15th century and extended 16th century by Jean du Thier, in Loir-et-Cher, France. The painters are unidentified and mainly copied portraits from other collections. The decorative work and emblems on the woodwork and coffered ceiling are by Pierre Mosnier.
