Roof of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Library of Alexandria, built 1995-2002 in Alexandria, Egypt. The roof is covered with north facing skylights, which avoids damage to the books from direct sunlight. The building also houses a cultural centre, conference centre, museums, art galleries and a planetarium. The library can hold 8 million books and its reading room overs 20,000 m2.
