Blessing Bishop, St Nicholas of Bari, Italian Gothic sculpture from Umbria, c. 1350–75, in The Cloisters, a museum specialising in European medieval architecture, sculpture and decorative arts, part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, at Fort Tryon Park, Manhattan, New York, USA. The statue is in painted and gilded wood, and the bishop wears a mitre and a robe with a black orphrey ornamented with a series of quatrefoils and folded drapery forms.
