On the right is the Collegiale Saint-Liphard de Meung-sur-Loire, a collegiate church, originally a Benedictine abbey founded in the 6th century, built over the tomb of St Liphard d'Orleans. The chateau was the country residence of the bishops of Orleans and also served as a prison. It is listed as a historic monument and forms part of the Loire Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site.
