Church of Saint Nikolaos, built in the first period of Turkish domination, 1458-1687, on the North slope of the Acropolis, in Athens, Greece. The church served a small monastic community and was of a cross design supported by 4 Ionic columns. The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel site raised above the city, developed by Pericles in the 5th century BC, with the addition of the Parthenon, Propylaia, Erechtheion and Temple of Athena Nike.
