Casa Pere Roger, an Indianos mansion in Begur on the Costa Brava, Emporda, Catalonia, Spain. The house was bought in 1859 by Pere Roger i Puig from the returned colonist Josep Carreras Frigola. Pere Roger emigrated to Cuba, where he worked in the tobacco industry. The house is decoration with frescoes depicting colonial and maritime scenes. There are many of these opulent private homes in the town, built by local people who emigrated to Cuba to escape poverty, then returned with their newly made fortunes. Picture by Manuel Cohen
