Smoking room, at Casa Vicens, a Catalan Modernist and Art Nouveau style house designed by Antoni Gaudi, 1852-1926, and built 1883, on the Carrer de les Carolines in the Gracia district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. This oriental room has plaster mocarabes on the ceiling resembling palm trees with dates, and the walls are covered with papier-mache tiles in green, blue and gold. The house was commissioned by Manuel Vicens i Montaner as a summer residence and contains many references to mudejar architecture. The building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
