Christ before Pilate, detail, by Jacopo Tintoretto, 1518-94, painting on the walls of the Sala dell'Albergo, in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, a lay confraternity founded in 1478, based on the cult of St Roch, in San Polo in Venice, Italy. The Scuola was built 1515-60 by several architects: Bartolomeo Bon, Pietro Bon, Sante Lombardo, Antonio Scarpagnino and Giangiacomo dei Grigi.
