Chateau d'Angers beside the river Maine, aerial view, originally founded in the 9th century by the Dukes of Anjou and expanded in 13th century, in Angers, Maine-et-Loire, France. The whitestone and black slate semicircular towers were built under Louis IX in the 13th century and the surrounding ditches are now planted with formal gardens. The castle is open to visitors and also houses the Musee de la Tapisserie de l'Apocalypse, exhibiting the Tenture de l'Apocalypse or Apocalypse Tapestry. It is listed as a historic monument.
