Jal Mahal, or Water Palace, built in red sandstone in Rajput style in the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The building was originally constructed in 1750 as a hunting lodge for Maharaja Madho Singh I, and then enlarged and improved by his son Madho Singh II. It has been recently restored. The city of Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Jai Singh II, the Raja of Amer, and planned and designed by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and the 10th most populous city in India. Jaipur is listed as the Pink City of India UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
