Cosimo II receives the victors from the Battle of Bona, detail, fresco, by Baldassare Franceschini, called Il Volterrano, 1611-89, commissioned by Lorenzo de Medici, from the Fasti Medicei, or Glories of the Medici family, series, in the internal courtyard at the Villa La Petraia, a 14th century Villa Medicea at Castello, Florence, Tuscany, Italy. The scene is set outside the church of Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri in the Piazza dei Cavalieri in Pisa. Tuscan nobles have returned from the battle in Tunisia in 1608, and prisoners and slaves are also depicted. The villa is now a museum and forms part of the Medici UNESCO World Heritage Site.
