Chateau de Hierges, rebuilt 16th century in Renaissance style, with curtain walls and towers, at Hierges in the Meuse valley, Ardennes, Grand Est, France. Built on the site of a 9th century castle destroyed in the 12th century, this chateau was begun in 1560 and the dovecote added in the 18th century, before fire and attack destroyed much of it during the French Revolution. The chateau is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
