Joseph and Mary, detail from Presentation at the Temple, Renaissance fresco, 1450-52, by Fra Angelico, 1395-1455, in the Dominican Convent of St Mark, now the Museo Nazionale di San Marco, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. Joseph is carrying a basket with 2 doves and Mary witnesses Jesus being held by Simeon, while St Peter Martyr and St Catherine of Siena look on. The original convent was rebuilt 1437-52 for Cosimo I de Medici by Michelozzo di Bartolomeo Michelozzi, 1396-1472, in Renaissance style.
