Seating niche by a window in the donjon or keep of the Forteresse de Salses, a catalan fortress built 1497-1504 and designed by Francisco Ramiro Lopez and restored by Vauban from 1691, Salses-le Chateau, Pyrenees-Orientales, Catalogne du Nord, France. The keep housed officers for the governor, the officers and the administrators. The castle was built under Ferdinand II of Aragon to protect the border between the Principality of Catalonia and France. It is part-buried and has 7 levels with 10m thick walls.
