Dante Alighieri, 1865, by Ugo Zannoni, (1836-1919). Whilst exiled from Florence, the famous Italian poet, Dante, (1265-1321), lived in Verona. This monument was erected to commemorate the 600th anniversary of his birth. In the background statues of illustrious citizens of Verona crown the Loggia del Consiglio, 1476.
