A view along the track at the Stadium, on April 13, 2007, in Olympia, Greece. The Stadium, seen in the early morning sun, was rebuilt in its current position to the East of the sanctuary in the 5th century BC. The track is 212.54 metres long and surrounded by grassy banks to accomodate up to 45,000 spectators. On its south side is the Exhedra where the judges sat. After being covered by alluvial deposits for hundreds of years Olympia was rediscovered in 1776, and excavated in the 19th century.
