A detail of Roman sculpture, on 16 April 2007 in Corinth, Greece. This lintel, seen against the morning sky, bears a relief showing a man rowing a boat surrounded by a garland of fruit and leaves. Corinth, founded in Neolithic times, was a major Ancient Greek city, until it was razed by the Romans in 146 BC. Rebuilt a century later it was destroyed by an earthquake in Byzantine times.
