These three Gothic portals were sculpted in 1418-50. On the central portal, the Puerta del Perdon, is a tympanum relief by Juan Aleman showing the Virgin Mary handing a vestment to the patron Saint of Toledo, Ildefonso. Toledo Cathedral was built between 1226 and 1493. Toledo is a former capital of Spain, and cultural centre where Jews, Muslims and Christians co-existed.
