A schematic rendering of the illuminated obelisk erected on Boston Common in celebration of the repeal of the Stamp Act. Each of the four sides a painted transparency which portrays allegorical terms in the struggle. 1) America in distress apprehending the loss of Liberty 2) Implores the aid of her Patrons. 3) Endures the Conflict for a short Season. 4) Her Liberty restored by the Royal hand of George the Third.  Above each allegory are ten lines of verse and portraits of four supposed friends of American liberty, 1766
